The Westmoreland Hockey Association was founded in 1968 and was one of four organizations to join the PAHL that year, quickly increasing the size of the league from 3 teams to 7 teams.

The Eagles play out of the Kirk Nevin Arena in Greensburg, which opened in 1968 as a municipal rink operated by Greensburg Parks & Recreation.  In 2018, the 50th anniversary of the program turned sour when the arena flooded when a nearby creek overflowed into Lynch Field Park, where the arena sits.  But the damage was contained and ultimately led to some improvements when the arena was remodeled.

Westmoreland organizes the longest-running youth hockey tournament in the area.  The annual Laurel Tournament began in 1971 and has now surpassed 50 years of existence.  It is conducted every March to wind down the season, and it has added an 8U jamboree and girls divisions.
