HISTORY

The Arctic Foxes began play in the PAHL in 1995, playing out of both the Airport Ice Arena in Moon Township and the RMU Island Sports Center on Neville Island.

The Foxes began in 1995 as the Airport Arctic Foxes under the Airport Amateur Hockey Association.  The organization was formed in 1995 when the Airport Ice Arena opened near the Pittsburgh International Airport.  The Foxes called the Airport Ice Arena home for its first six seasons.

The Island Sports Center opened on Neville Island in 1998, and the Foxes organization relocated to that rink in 2001 to become the anchor youth hockey program at the facility.  Through the move, the association became the Arctic Foxes Hockey Association and thereby kept the Arctic Foxes nickname.  It remains the only member association without a geographic location as part of its name.

The Foxes have remained on Neville Island, where the rink is called the RMU Island Sports Center after Robert Morris University purchased the facility in 2003.  With three ice surfaces during the winter months -- including a 1,200-seat arena -- the Foxes play out of one of the largest facilities in the region.  In turn, they are also one of the largest organizations in the PAHL.
